PRCI Pipeline On-Bottom Stability (OBS) 4.0: Subsea Pipeline Design & Analysis Software
PRCI Pipeline On-Bottom Stability (OBS) 4.0 is a specialty software application for the analysis of on-bottom pipeline stability in subsea applications, developed by the Pipeline Research Council International (PRCI) . Version 4.0 represents a major upgrade from the original 3.0 version, featuring modernization updates, bug fixes, and significant new functionalities
The software is the world standard for subsea pipeline design and analysis, incorporating calculation of kinematics from 3-D irregular waves, multiple hydrodynamic force models, partial burial modeling, non-linear time-dependent soil-pipeline interaction (sand and clay), and non-linear pipeline material properties
OBS is available in three analytical levels :
| Level | Application | Key Features |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | Quick simplified analysis | Logarithmic boundary layer formulation; marine growth specification |
| Level 2 | Comprehensive detailed design | JONSWAP spectrum; Verley & Lund (clay); Verley & Sotberg (sand); parametric-run functionality for wall thickness/water depth |
| Level 3 | Advanced complex modeling | Multiple wave seeds per run; plotting/reporting per wave seed |
